What makes DHRpro unique?

DHRpro’s architecture was designed to be data-source agnostic; pulling information from a myriad of unrelated data sources and then analyzing and transforming it into one concise dashboard. How does DHRpro provide security and control over patient health information and financial data?

Since design inception, DHRpro has been architected to ensure the most secure storage of all data. Access is controlled and managed at the practice or organization level, allowing a single or multiple administrators to be assigned the responsibility of managing permissions at both the role and individual level. Permissioning may be set as granular as needed, to only allow for access to specific elements, specific portions of elements, or complete omission of elements or portions thereof.

To support the environment, DHRpro workflows deliver visibility only to those authorized and enabled to take action. At no time may an unauthorized individual see patient health information or financials for which they are not explicitly approved.

DHRpro takes data security incredibly seriously. Our platform is hosted on Microsoft Azure, which is used by federal government agencies, including the Department of Defense. Microsoft Azure provides confidentiality, integrity, and availability of customer data while also enabling transparent accountability. Moreover, DHRpro serves as a backup for all medical data which can be accessed and utilized even when EHR and/or practice management systems are unavailable.

What is the learning curve?

Since DHRpro is implemented as an intuitive Internet based web application that adheres to existing policy and process and is customized to be role-specific, any additional user assimilation is virtually eliminated. With an intuitive browser-based look and feel, practice administrators, billing staff, and clinicians will immediately be accustomed to the operation of DHRpro. Best practice has shown that three (3) segments of training, each approximately one (1) hour in length targeted to the differing groups of users will make each respective audience functional and self-sufficient.

As training and assimilation commences, DHRpro is presented in such a way that it minimizes the resource expertise required in performing the role. In achieving this simplicity, DHRpro breaks the process down into three simple steps:

  • GATHER all available information.
  • ANALYZE the information for accuracy and consistency.
  • LOAD upon request the pre-processed information.

Is your technology unique enough to be patent-protected?

Dr. James Thimons is nationally and internationally acclaimed speaker and educator.  He has received numerous awards for his service and has over 200 publications in glaucoma, cornea and external disease, dry eye, refractive surgery, and new technologies. 

Dr. Thimons is a 1978 graduate of Ohio State University College of Optometry. He completed his hospital residency at the Chillicothe, VA Medical Center and served as Chief, Optometry Service until 1985. He was the Center Director at Omni Eye Services in Fairfax, Virginia, and then became Chairman, Department of Clinical Sciences at the State University of New York.  While at SUNY, Dr. Thimons developed The Glaucoma Institute, a clinical research center, and served as its first Director. In 2002, he co-founded Ophthalmic Consultants of Connecticut.

Dr. Thimons was awarded Optometry’s Top Educator in 1999 and was selected as one of the Top Ten Clinicians of the decade. In 2002, he founded the National Glaucoma Society which provides educational and clinical development services to primary care clinicians worldwide.  He was inducted into the Optometry Hall of Fame in 2005 and was named on Newsweek’s America’s Best Eye Doctors list in 2002.

For more than 30 years, Leonard H. Ginsburg, M.D. has been on a mission to connect healthcare professionals through a multi-disciplinary, holistic approach to total patient care. This mission led Dr. Ginsburg to open Moore Eye Institute in collaboration with several hospital systems. Such partnerships opened doors for Moore Eye Institute to introduce high-end new-age technology such as indocyanine green digital angiography (third in the U.S.) and first to introduce OCT, now the most common diagnostic test in eye care, in the Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey regions.

Dr. Ginsburg’s work in health systems enabled him to bring together many specialists resulting in his chairing two multi-specialty diabetes centers with endocrinologists, nephrologists, podiatrists, ophthalmologists, and diabetes educators. He also served as the regional President of the American Diabetes Association and was one of the only ophthalmologists in America to become a Certified Diabetes Educator. These hospitals also supported his work in residency programs. Dr. Ginsburg was Clinical Chief at Drexel University’s Department of Ophthalmology and now serves as Chairman of the Ophthalmology Residency Program at PCOM.

Having always been intent on ophthalmology working closely with the rest of medicine, Dr. Ginsburg has served in various leadership roles to promote such ideals.  He was Vice Chairman of the American Medical Association Ophthalmology Section Council for eight years, representing all major ophthalmology organizations. And while representing the American Society of Retinal Specialists to the AMA, he co-authored the booklet, “The Revealing Retina – What All Physicians Should Know.”

His interest in operational efficiency, clinical reporting, and diabetes led to many abstracts, articles, book chapters, and presentations, including co-authoring “The Focal Points of the AAO:  Diabetic Retinopathy Classification Progression and Management,” “Doctors are Held Responsible for What They Do Not Know,” and more than 150 others.

Early in his career, he became knowledgeable about the importance of computers in connecting people and data. While Chairing the American Association of University Students, IBM donated 50 computers to connect student governments, and with the help of Uni-Col and using ARPANET, the first student computer network was created in 1984. In 1985 the International Association of Universities which represented 800 major universities from 120 nations, met in Los Angeles. Dr. Ginsburg served as chairman of the student section.

This background made it natural to discover a solution for what most physicians find frustrating. 1) Having to enter data into an EHR yet struggling to locate that data, and 2) Poorly coordinated patient care amongst doctors in the same or different specialties in different EHRs – faxes are not a solution! These common struggles motivated him to create DHRpro to allow the data to finally work for the doctors, and to have the capabilities to share that data across all EHRs.

Dr. Ginsburg went to college and medical school at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine Center in NY, and he was a retinal fellow at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and the Joslin Diabetes Center of Harvard University. He enjoys spending time with his wife, five kids, nine grandchildren, studying archeology and horticulture, and scuba diving.

Ruth Williams, MD is a glaucoma specialist at Wheaton Eye Clinic and Chief Medical Editor for EyeNet Magazine.  She serves on the Board of Directors of the Glaucoma Research Foundation.  Dr. Williams is past president of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.  She is a current member of the American Glaucoma Society, Women in Ophthalmology, the Chicago Glaucoma Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Williams received the Senior Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology.  She lectures nationally and internationally, has appeared on major television networks, and has been interviewed by newspapers and magazines including The Chicago Tribune, The New York Times, Women’s Health, Health, Shape, AARP Magazine, and Good Housekeeping.

Dr. Williams earned her bachelor’s degree and Wheaton College and her medical degree at Rush Medical College.  She completed her glaucoma fellowship training at the University of California San Francisco and at Shaffer Associates.

Dr. Michael H. Mittelman serves as President of Salus University after a distinguished 33-year career in the U.S. Navy.  Prior to joining Salus, Dr. Mittelman was Deputy Surgeon General of the Navy and achieved the rank of Rear Admiral.  He was the first optometrist to command a major naval hospital and the first non-medical doctor to serve as the command surgeon for the U.S. Joint Forces.  He was the first and only clinician to lead the Navy Medical Service Corps.

Dr. Mittelman is the recipient of the American Optometric Association’s 2012 Distinguished Service Award and in 2022, a Philadelphia Business Journal Veterans of Influence honoree.

Dr. Mittelman earned his bachelor’s degree Jacksonville University and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  He graduated from the Naval War College non-resident program and earned his MBA from Temple University.

Cathleen McCabe, MD serves as the Chief Medical Officer of Eye Health America.  She is a renowned eye surgeon having performed more than 50,000 laser cataract and 17,000 LASIK procedures.  Dr. McCabe has a deep interest in research; participating frequently in clinical trials involving innovations for glaucoma, dry eye, and presbyopia.

Dr. McCabe received the American Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement and Secretariat Awards and was chosen as a LASERVISION Top 100 LASIK Surgeon.  She serves as Chair of the Refractive Surgery Clinical Committee for the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and serves on the governing board of ASCRS.  In 2021 and 2022, she was named to the Global Top 100 Power list.  She holds leadership positions and volunteers frequently for national and global charitable organizations.

Mark A. Latina, M.D. is President of Advanced Glaucoma Specialists and President of Lasercare Cosmetic Centers of Reading, Massachusetts.  He is on the staff and serves as Associate Clinical Professor at New England Medical Center, Tufts University School of Medicine and holds appointments at Massachusetts Eye and Ear, Harvard Medical School, and Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Latina is a world-renowned glaucoma specialist and laser pioneer. His research focuses on laser applications and development, which contributed to his inventing new laser procedures for the treatment of glaucoma.  Dr. Latina holds numerous patents including Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) and Dye-Enhanced Gonioscopic Laser Sclerostomy.

Dr. Latina earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry, graduating Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Tufts University.  He received his medical degree from University of Connecticut Medical School and completed glaucoma fellowship training at Massachusetts Eye and Ear.  Dr. Latina is part of the research staff at the Schepen’s Eye Research Institute at Harvard Medical School and the Wellman Laboratory of Photomedicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

Michael V. Dr. Boland is a member of the Glaucoma Service at Massachusetts Eye and Ear.  He is recognized as an expert in technology-based innovations and provides guidance that improves practice efficiency and facilitates the improvement of patient care.  From 2007 through 2017, he studied the adoption of electronic health records in ophthalmology and conducted a series of studies to evaluate the impact of EHR integration with medical practices and their patients.

Dr. Joe Zebrowitz is Founder and President of Versalus Health, a company that specializes in helping more than 2,500 hospitals optimize compliance and improve their financial performance.  Prior to Versalus, Dr. Zebrowitz was Managing Partner of the diversified healthcare investment firm, Devon Hill Capital Partners. Before DHCP, he served as Executive Vice President of Executive Health Resources where he advised thousands of hospitals, developing the role of the “Physician Advisor” and establishing the standard for medical necessity reviews. Today, Executive Health Resources is known as Optum360 after being acquired by UnitedHealth Group for $1.4 billion.  Now, its software that Dr. Zebrowitz and his team developed is used in three-quarters of U.S. hospitals.

Dr. Zebrowitz earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine.  A former OB/GYN specialist, he studied business at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.

Dr. Mark L. Tykocinski, MD serves as President of Thomas Jefferson University and as the Anthony F. and Gertrude M. DePalma Dean of Jefferson University’s Sidney Kimmel Medical College. Among his accomplishments at Jefferson are tripling the extramural research portfolio to expand collaborative discovery and thematic research and opening eight global centers to elevate Jefferson’s international profile.

In addition to academic leadership, Dr. Tykocinski is a biomedical innovator.  He designed several classes of fusion proteins with therapeutic potential for cancer and autoimmunity. He holds several patents related to protein and cellular engineering, and he is a National Academy of Inventors Fellow.

In the past, Dr. Tykocinski served as Chair of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, Founding Director of Case Western Reserve University’s Gene Therapy Facility, President of the American Society for Investigative Pathology/FASEB, and President of the Association of Pathology Chairs.

Dr. Ramamurthy’s expertise includes intellectual property strategy, commercialization, and technology development for diagnostic imaging and ultrasound systems.  He is an inventor with more than 40 patents issued and pending. Dr. Ramamurthy earned a PhD in biomedical engineering at Duke University.

Dr. Dan P. Montzka founded Intellemed to solve the inherent challenges he experienced with inflexible, burdensome EHR technology in his own ophthalmology practice. He developed an EHR with customizable templates that improved efficiency by reducing time spent typing patient notes.  In 2003, his Intellemed merged with Extensys Inc. to form MDIntelleSys. Through this merger, Dr. Montzka was able to transition the technology from server to cloud, leveraging centralized infrastructure to lower overhead, while offering an EHR solution that is still considered one of the top choices among retina surgeons. In 2014 after his EHR was installed in ophthalmology practices across America, he sold his company to Nextech where he served nearly five years as Chief Medical Officer.

Today, Dr. Montzka practices at Gulf Coast Retina Associates.  He earned his bachelor’s degree with honors in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota Institute of Technology and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine where he received the Charles A. Oliver award for outstanding achievement in the field of Ophthalmology. From there, he completed his ophthalmology residency at Scheie Eye Institute, followed by fellowship training at Wills Eye Hospital in retina and intraocular tumors.

Aneesh Chopra is President of CareJourney and Cofounder of Hunch Analytics, companies that harness the potential of open health data to provide patient-specific insights and workflow automation. He was the first appointed Chief Technology Officer of the United States and served under the Obama Administration.  Previously, he was Virginia’s fourth Secretary of Technology. 

Chopra is widely recognized for designing the National Wireless Initiative (a nationwide public safety broadband network) and for implementing President Obama’s open government strategy that fostered collaboration between government and the private sector. Williams Award for outstanding teaching.

Professor Buell investigates the interactions between service businesses and their customers, and how operational choices affect customer behaviors and firm performance. He is affiliated with the Behavioral Insights Group at Harvard University Kennedy School’s Center for Public Leadership. His work is widely published and received media attention from The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, The Guardian, and several other revered news publications.  In 2019, Professor Buell won the Wickham Skinner Early Career Research Accomplishments Award.

For more than 30 years, Leonard H. Ginsburg, M.D. has been on a mission to connect healthcare professionals through a multi-disciplinary, holistic approach to total patient care. This mission led Dr. Ginsburg to open Moore Eye Institute in collaboration with several hospital systems. Such partnerships opened doors for Moore Eye Institute to introduce high-end new-age technology such as indocyanine green digital angiography (third in the U.S.) and first to introduce OCT, now the most common diagnostic test in eye care, in the Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey regions.

Dr. Ginsburg’s work in health systems enabled him to bring together many specialists resulting in his chairing two multi-specialty diabetes centers with endocrinologists, nephrologists, podiatrists, ophthalmologists, and diabetes educators. He also served as the regional President of the American Diabetes Association and was one of the only ophthalmologists in America to become a Certified Diabetes Educator. These hospitals also supported his work in residency programs. Dr. Ginsburg was Clinical Chief at Drexel University’s Department of Ophthalmology and now serves as Chairman of the Ophthalmology Residency Program at PCOM.

Having always been intent on ophthalmology working closely with the rest of medicine, Dr. Ginsburg has served in various leadership roles to promote such ideals.  He was Vice Chairman of the American Medical Association Ophthalmology Section Council for eight years, representing all major ophthalmology organizations. And while representing the American Society of Retinal Specialists to the AMA, he co-authored the booklet, “The Revealing Retina – What All Physicians Should Know.”

His interest in operational efficiency, clinical reporting, and diabetes led to many abstracts, articles, book chapters, and presentations, including co-authoring “The Focal Points of the AAO:  Diabetic Retinopathy Classification Progression and Management,” “Doctors are Held Responsible for What They Do Not Know,” and more than 100 others.

Early in his career, he became knowledgeable about the importance of computers in connecting people and data. While Chairing the American Association of University Students, IBM donated 50 computers to connect student governments, and with the help of Uni-Col and using ARPANET, the first student computer network was created in 1984. In 1985 the International Association of Universities which represented 800 major universities from 120 nations, met in Los Angeles. Dr. Ginsburg served as chairman of the student section.

This background made it natural to discover a solution for what most physicians find frustrating. 1) Having to enter data into an EHR yet struggling to locate that data, and 2) Poorly coordinated patient care amongst doctors in the same or different specialties in different EHRs – faxes are not a solution! These common struggles motivated him to create DHRpro to allow the data to finally work for the doctors, and to have the capabilities to share that data across all EHRs.

Dr. Ginsburg went to college and medical school at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine Center in NY, and he was a retinal fellow at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and the Joslin Diabetes Center of Harvard University. He enjoys spending time with his wife, five kids, nine grandchildren, studying archeology and horticulture, and scuba diving.

Ryan Twomey-Allaire has more than 20 years of leadership experience in regulated software technologies.  A former product executive for 11 eye care solutions spanning 40% of the specialty market, he developed a wide variety of multi-platform database-integrated solutions including web portals, referral management and tracking programs, mobile applications, and kiosk systems.  He has managed key functions such as the full software life cycle, product ownership, quality assurance, conversions, integrations, training, and technical support for EHR, practice management, regulatory, and patient engagement frameworks.

Ryan’s unique approach to product management stems from diverse career experience including six years as owner and operator of a publishing company.  His holistic approach to all things allows him the opportunity to showcase publishing experience through technical documentation, customer service through management style, and thorough analysis through intelligent innovation.

An outdoor enthusiast, Ryan enjoys hiking and a rural lifestyle filled with DIY projects often involving outbuilding construction, landscaping, and gardening. When he isn’t outside, he’s either involved in a home remodeling project or in the kitchen whipping up a seasonally inspired gourmet dish.

Dr. James Thimons is nationally and internationally acclaimed speaker and educator.  He has received numerous awards for his service and has over 200 publications in glaucoma, cornea and external disease, dry eye, refractive surgery, and new technologies. 

Dr. Thimons is a 1978 graduate of Ohio State University College of Optometry. He completed his hospital residency at the Chillicothe, VA Medical Center and served as Chief, Optometry Service until 1985. He was the Center Director at Omni Eye Services in Fairfax, Virginia, and then became Chairman, Department of Clinical Sciences at the State University of New York.  While at SUNY, Dr. Thimons developed The Glaucoma Institute, a clinical research center, and served as its first Director. In 2002, he co-founded Ophthalmic Consultants of Connecticut.

Dr. Thimons was awarded Optometry’s Top Educator in 1999 and was selected as one of the Top Ten Clinicians of the decade. In 2002, he founded the National Glaucoma Society which provides educational and clinical development services to primary care clinicians worldwide.  He was inducted into the Optometry Hall of Fame in 2005 and was named on Newsweek’s America’s Best Eye Doctors list in 2002.
