Michael V. Boland, MD, PhD serves as Medical Director of Practice Innovation for Massachusetts Eye and Ear, Site Director for Massachusetts Eye and Ear at Lexington, and Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School. He earned a PhD in biomedical engineering at Carnegie Mellon University and fellowship training for glaucoma at Wilmer Eye Institute and also for health sciences informatics at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Dr. Boland is a member of the Glaucoma Service at Massachusetts Eye and Ear. He is recognized as an expert in technology-based innovations and provides guidance that improves practice efficiency and facilitates the improvement of patient care. From 2007 through 2017, he studied the adoption of electronic health records in ophthalmology and conducted a series of studies to evaluate the impact of EHR integration with medical practices and their patients.
