Anat Loewenstein, MD is President of the Israeli Ophthalmological Society, Professor of Ophthalmology and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Sidney Fox Chair of Ophthalmology at Tel Aviv University, Chair of Ophthalmology at Sourasky Medical Center (TASMC), Editor-in-Chief of the journal, Case Reports in Ophthalmology, Associate Editor of the European Journal of Ophthalmology, and Associate Editor of Ophthalmologica. She serves on the board of EURETINA as General Secretary and on the international committee of the Macula Society.
Dr. Loewenstein is a retina specialist and leader of innovative technologies for the early detection of retinal disease. She is driven by a strong research interest in the early detection of macular degeneration and has led the development of novel technology and an augmented reality system.
Dr. Loewenstein served as a physician-officer in the Israeli Navy after completing a residency at TASMC and a fellowship in retinal vascular diseases and vitreoretinal surgery at Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute. She earned her Master of Health Administration degree at the Tel Aviv University Business School and has published more than 300 peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters. She earned her medical degree at the School of Medicine at Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
