John T. Thompson, MD, FASRS is an Assistant Professor at Wilmer Eye Institute, a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Maryland, and the Associate Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of VitreoRetinal Diseases. He served as President of the American Society of Retina Specialists, President of the Maryland Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, and President of the Baltimore City Medical Society. Dr. Thompson is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Retina Society, the American Society of Retina Specialists, the Macula Society, Club Jules Gonin, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the American Ophthalmological Society.
Dr. Thompson earned his bachelor’s degree from The Johns Hopkins University and received his medical degree from The Johns Hopkins Medical School. He completed his surgical retina fellowship with Dr. Ron Michels at The Wilmer Institute and his medical retina fellowship training at the Retinal Vascular Center of the Wilmer Institute.
